Tyscot Signs Anthony J. Brown In Partnership With VaShawn Mitchell

Congrats are in order to Anthony J. Brown, who has been signed by Tyscot Records!

A noted artist, songwriter and producer, Brown recently wrote the radio hit “It Ain’t Over” for Maurette Brown Clark, but has been known for some time for his work with his group, Group TherAPy.

Apparently, VaShawn Mitchell will partner with Tyscot in a joint venture label deal to bring Brown’s new project this year.

He had a pretty tight song, called “Harvest Song,” featuring Maurette Brown Clark, last year… check it out!

Watch Gospel Play ‘Sugar Mommas’ Featuring VaShawn Mitchell Tomorrow

Heads-up–

On Saturday, January 21, 2012 (that’s tomorrow) at 7pm ET (with encores at 9pm and 11pm), gmc will air the original gospel play “Sugar Mommas,” featuring Vanessa Williams, Terri J. Vaughn, Lamman Rucker and gospel’s own VaShawn Mitchell.

A synopsis of the play:

Inspiring, heart-warming and hilarious, “Sugar Mommas” centers on three 40-something women who start a bakery together to fulfill their own sweet desires to be independent women after motherhood, failed marriages and the loss of loved ones have left indelible marks on their lives. Together, their story is a celebration of womanhood, the good and the bad, as each learns new lessons about maturing, love and romance, and opportunity.

Should be good, right? Right.

Tune-in!

Photo Gallery: 2012 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards

On Friday, January 13, 2012, BMI held its annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music awards luncheon at Nashville’s Rocketown. The invite-only industry gathering has become the hottest ticket in town.

This year, BMI saluted the music and ministry of Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Kirk Franklin.

A virtual who’s-who was in attendance… Kim Burrell, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Isaac Carree, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Jason Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Jessica Reedy, Virtue, Asaph Ward, Ricky Dillard, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, BeBe Winans, DJ Rogers, David & Tamela Mann, Dayna Caddell, Brian Courtney Wilson, Dorinda Clark Cole, Marvin Sapp… my fingers are tired, but just think of EVERYONE in gospel music. ;-)
