Word Has It: Darwin Hobbs Readies For New Project

Word has it that Darwin Hobbs is just about ready to release his newest album, titled Champion. The project, his seventh, is the musical result of the first live recording in his 12-year career as a solo artist.
Darwin is aiming for a May 2010 release, with the single (and title track) hitting radio as early as January (now, THAT’S how you work an album!). Co-production comes from Hobbs, with the super-gifted Daniel Weatherspoon (Donald Lawrence, Shekinah Glory Ministry) taking the lead on production work.
I’ll let you guys know more details as I get ‘em, but word on the streets is that the recording was INCREDIBLE. I can only imagine how great the mixed and mastered project is gonna be!

I am a huge fan of Darwin. I must say that “Worshipper” by far is his best album to date. Though I love his version “We worship you today” , worshipper is one of those albums I can listen to straight through from, “Lord we rejoice” to “All Sides”.

Worshipper is definitely my favorite, but I’m excited to see what he and Daniel Witherspoon cooked up. Actually, I was at the live recording and it was amazing. I loved the songs, the stage, lighting, wardrobe, etc. Can’t wait to hear the finished product.

Champiom is by far BEST album from Darwin Hobbs! The live recording was AMAZING! Please believe this wasnt your typical live recording. Danny and Darwin made a great TEAM and im looking forward to the release!!! POW!

This record is the next level for Darwin Hobbs. Now don’t get me wrong, Darwin is already at a ridiculios level but after this record “Champion” it’s going to be at level “universe”!!! Hobbs has such a flow live and I’m so excited for the world to hear! Make sure and buy this record and let it change you, your family and your church!

If Champion is better than Worshipper, then it should be a great project. I look forward to hearing it because like @Richard, Worshipper is one those cds that you can listen to from beginning to end.

Darwin’s recording was… what’s a word that’s better than AWESOME or INCREDIBLE???!!!! The songs and the delivery of the messages shared will definitely touch the hearts of ANY person who hears it, as well as restore those of us who are “over” church back to an intimate place with God. I can’t say enough of how AMAZING this album is, especially the testimonial song with Darwin & Sherri Mofett. I’m expecting great things from this project!!!

I was at the recording as well, and it was simply AMAZING! Darwin was flawless.. The background singers & band were excellent.. & The songs were moving and spirit filled!! Definitely the best project to date, and quite impressive for Darwin’s 1st live recording! I can’t wait for the album to come out so I can relive that phenomenal night. “A champion lives within me”!!

Darwin Hobbs is one of my favorite vocalists. All of his albums are strong, but right now “Worshipper” is my favorite. I wish more people knew about his stuff. Whenever I play a song for someone they always wanna know who he is and where they can get his music.

I absolutely love all of Darwin’s cd’s(albums/projects). With each one, he goes a little higher. He is just awesome in his worship and takes the listener to another level in Christ. Be blessed.

I was at Darwin’s recording this past September and I agree with those who attended…. it REALLY was an incredible experience. Darwin has recorded so many wonderful projects but this was his VERY first full live project. Might I add, for your first one Darwin, you did an INCREDIBLE job. I really think you should come out with the Champion song first. That song is needed NOW. I hope your label posts some snippets so that people can get a feel of what’s to come. I CAN’T WAIT!

ohhhh… and @Tobias… thanks for the love.. but hey…The Stellar Award is completely NOT MY MOTIVATION for recording these albums.. cause TRUST.. if it were… I’d have quit lonnng ago! My motto is: “Let the excellence of your work be your protest”… I’m just busy being the best freakin’ Darwin Hobbs I can be… whatever else comes is always extra and welcomed! I used to blame the whole Stellar process on “popularity”… but hey, now that theory has holes in it.. cause many nominees I’ve NEVER heard of… and that don’t mean they don’t have valid ministry… it just means they probably aren’t connected to the big machine… whose transmission is about shot anyways… sooooo…go figure! Thanks though! I feel ya!

We heard Darwin’s CHAMPION last night the Christmas with the Condreys in Atlanta last night. I can’t wait until May. Surely this project has to release before then! It was bananas in the joint last night. Wow. I love WORSHIPPER. It stays in my rotation. Love Darwin. Get everything God has for you! A CHAMPION lives within you!

@ Lisa - it was indeed bananas in there last night! I am trying to keep up with all of the gospel events in the ATL, so Darwin please let us know when you will be ministering. We appreciate you for what you do and Who you do it for!
